FINAL PIECES IN CREATION AHEAD OF PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY
What it is:
A 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom house in Stoke Newington brought to life in collaboration with the homeowners and celebrated art consultancy, Cramer & Bell who have advised many of London’s most admired hotels including Soho House and The Rosewood on their art collections.
The clients:
A young family whose first spacious home marked a milestone: a place to raise their little boy, welcome loved ones, and create lasting memories.
Background:
Moving from a flat close by the purchase of the couple’s first spacious family home together marked a new chapter in their lives and they had a vision for a soulful sanctuary informed by the couple’s well-travelled lifestyle and appreciation for art, culture, and design.
Muses & motivations:
The well travelled couple had diverse inspirations that ranged from the graceful simplicity of Japanese and mid-century design (they honeymooned in Tokyo and have made many trips to Scandinavia) to the warm and romantic embrace of English country house hotels, the Beaverbrook being one of their favourites. Our task was merge the different threads to create a harmonious home that sings with character and individuality.
To do so, we combined rich textures, layered textiles, and classic window treatments that evoke the charm of country house hotels with clean lined simplicity, especially in more functional spaces like the open plan kitchen, lending a sense of calm, balance, and modernity to the schemes.
It’s all in the details:
As well as the art, one of the features that makes the makes the biggest impact is the custom joinery. With a shared desire to support British craftsmanship and to prioritise sustainable, high quality furniture built honestly, ethically and locally we chose to collaborate with two talented London based makers Jacob Alexander and Stuart Indge who each produced a suite of elegant, meticulously crafted and crucially highly functional pieces, including a kitchen, pantry, banquette, walk-in wardrobe, dressing table and shoji screen room divider.
